Visited two beautiful Buddhist Monasteries in the Catskill Mountains, New York.
The trees were wearing fall colors. Chuang Yen Monastery is in Putnam County. The exterior design of the buildings is in the architectural style of Tang Dynasty. The Kuan-yan Hall was designed by the world famous architect I.M. Pei. The Kuan-Yin statue is the world's largest fine colored porcelain statue. Other sites include the thousand Locus Memorial Terrace, Yin-Kuang Hall and more. They offer workshops in Buddhism.
The grounds are beautiful and have scenic places such as the bridge of longevity, the lake of setting free, the Buddhist hall, and Guanyin Hall.
You can stay overnight for a retreat and eat from their garden vegetarian food.
